The Wǒ Men podcast is a bi-weekly discussion of life in China hosted by Yajun Zhang and Jingjing Zhang. Previous episodes of the Wǒ Men podcast can be found here, and you can find Wǒ Men on iTunes here.

Over the past month, a somewhat belated #MeToo campaign has finally sprouted in China. Over three dozen sexual harassment cases mushroomed in universities, media organizations, NGOs and the private sector in China. Suddenly, this campaign has became a hot topic on Chinese social media.

But why now?

Why has it started from academic arena, rather than the entertainment industry, like in the US? Can the campaign last or have a long-term impact? And how should we address the concern expressed by some professors over the#MeToo campaign in China?

To answer these questions, we invited our old friend Shi Xiaoqin (pictured below), a former military officer, a feminist and now a professor in Zhejiang University to share with us her insights and observations.
